And a final note. It is important to recognize R. F. Wiseman as a true pioneer, both as it relates to early Hico and to the art of photography. Frank Wiseman was born in Newberry, SC in 1874. He moved to Hico as a young man and immersed himself in photography. As his reputation grew, he was soon selling his images far and wide. His photograph was included among the Hico Commercial Club members and this nearby dapper image tells us a great deal about this remarkable man. Undoubtedly, most of the photos represented here are his work. It is largely because of Mr. Wiseman that Hico has such a remarkable and unique photographic legacy from its earliest days.
